I am immersed in studying nitrogen and carbon emissions, as well as nitrogen leaching, within agricultural systems. My research focuses on developing strategies to mitigate these environmental impacts while ensuring sustainable crop production. Through extensive experimentation, meticulous data analysis, and advanced modelling techniques, I aim to uncover effective management practices that minimize nitrogen and carbon emissions and reduce nitrogen leaching into the environment. With a thorough understanding of the intricate dynamics of nitrogen and carbon cycles within farming systems, I am dedicated to crafting actionable solutions that promote environmental health and agricultural sustainability.

BLE project smartMaN2agement  (Site-specific modelling of N dynamics to reduce gaseous N emissions and other N losses in crop production).

The project focuses on reducing N2O and NH3 emissions and N leaching through predictable, informed, and site-adapted management in crop production. Long-term experiments, selected for sampling and modelling, cover key management practices such as crop rotation with catch crops, tillage with mulching of high-N crops, and various mineral and organic fertilization methods. The project emphasizes modelling, utilizing extensive data from long-term trials to validate the models, aiming for a comprehensive evaluation. During the project, we will derive well-founded statements on the impacts of different farming systems, crop rotations, soil tillage, and fertilization practices tailored to specific locations and farming systems. These findings will be regionalized to the federal territory and processed for practical agricultural application and consulting.
